Additional Information
When vascular access is difficult and time is critical, intraosseous access devices can provide life sustaining treatment until more long-term intravenous access is obtained. In this dynamic and hands-on session, participants will learn about intraosseous access devices, how they are inserted, and how they are maintained. Participants will also have an opportunity to practice inserting and removing an intraosseous device.
Note: The Arizona State Board of Nursing has ruled that it is within the scope of practice of a registered nurse to place intraosseous devices under certain conditions. For more information, please read the following advisory opinion.
